Origin
The Aegean cat is a natural breed of cat and is the only cat breed native to Greece. This breed originated from Greek Cycladic Islands located in the Aegean Sea. This is a new cat breed but often believed to be a rare breed. The Aegean cat is seen throughout Greece.
Height and Weight
The Aegean is a medium sized cat breed with a muscular body. The weight and height is average.
Colors and Coat
The Aegean Cat has a coat that is semi long with a ruff and rich tail. The color is bicolor or tricolor with one of the colors always being white. The white fur has no signs of yellow and always covers 1/3 to 2/3 of the body.
Temperament and Living Environment
This breed of cat is highly intelligent and a great hunter. They are often used to control pests in rural areas. The Aegean Cat is very good with humans and are great pets. They tend to get along well with children and even other pets unless we are talking about hamsters or mice. Apartment life is fine, but this breed does prefer the country and chasing predators.
Grooming
Little or no grooming is needed.
Diet and Care
Diet should be well balance. Should be allowed plenty of space to run and play. City life would not be best, as this cat breed may not enjoy small areas.
Health Issues and Life Expectancy
Since this is a new breed, life expectancy is not known as an exact time. In most cases, the life expectancy is around 10 years. No known health issues at this time.
