Todd Goings worked as a travel agent for six years but was not happy sitting behind a desk. He was not doing well either as the business was going down. He learnt that electricians made good money and decided to enroll for a course of nine months.
He also completed his apprenticeship program of four years and while he started small, earning $17 an hour, he now runs his own business. In the first year he made $50,000 after expenses and enjoys the freedom and total control his work gives him.
Jim Patterson was working at a manufacturing company for 20 years when he was laid off. He did not know what to do. He decided to try his hand and went back to learn computer repair. He studied hard and did well, but then decided that is not what he wanted to do.
He then took a course in customer service. After successful completion of the course he was able to get a job at the Office of Personnel Management for the State of Oklahoma. He is happy with his job change and his employers are happy with his work and attitude.
