How to make money by reading emails
April 3, 2009
If every time a person received money to get an email – that are often regarded unwanted or spam - sent to their inbox, they would become pretty well-off, or at least, have a nice little extra income. Well, a new company could change the way a person receives mail in their email inbox that would potentially lead to a way to earn “free” money from home, just by reading emails.
The idea and the company involved
Boxbe, a recent start-up, has come with a plan that will see companies or any organization that wants to send a promotional email will be required to pay. Boxbe itself will charge the companies a fee to send promotional material to a registered email address. Boxbe will share that fee between itself and the receiver of the email - you.
From the point of view of the companies involved in marketing like this, a few conversion every thousand emails sent might very much be worthwhile, after all, they do not expect everyone to buy a product or service they advertise to. Even getting some of the people to open the email, which they will need to do, can raise the awareness of a product being advertised, which is often the whole idea behind advertising, anyway.
Steps to setting up an account
Go to the Boxbe website located at www.boxbe.com and sign up to register with them. You will, initially, need to set up your user name and password that would allow you to access the account. Having done that, you can complete your full details and the official email address that you would like to register to receive the emails.
- You can specify a price at which you will accept any incoming mail. This would determine whether they could send an email.
- There is also the option to allow Boxbe to determine the best price for you. This might be a good option to choose if you prefer to have the chance of receiving as many emails as possible thus guaranteeing you an income, even if means a few cents per email.
- Boxbe recommends that you specify between 15-25 cents an email. This allows you to receive a good sum for each email, and you would also likely to receive offers that are more genuine because the advertiser is willing to pay a significant amount to send it off in the first place.
- Choose the areas of Internet. Boxbe allows a member to choose a primary and secondary area of interest. This presumably is done to hone in on specific areas that interests you thereby increasing the likelihood of achieving greater success as you are, at least, theoretically, more likely to be interested in the ads.
- You can use your protected Boxbe account to sign up with online retailers without the fear of it being spammed.
Too early to determine the potential of this idea
Now, its too early to tell whether this a genuine way to earn money from home reading emails but there does seem a potential there for this scheme to be viable. However, even if it goes a long way to eradicating junk mail, or other unwanted emails, then it would be good thing.
Another problem with this method is that there is already an in-built reputation to some degree of email marketing being considered spam even though there are many good deals on products and services from reputable companies being sent everyday. Unfortunately, for many of them, these deals are being muddled with spammy advertising that is so frequent these days, too.
This, at first, might seem far fetched an idea to be viable, but when you analyse the statistics a little further, you will realise direct marketing is worth a staggering $500 per head, so spending a few cents an email might not be as hard to grasp.
