How to Live With Osteoarthritis – Hip Replacement Surgery (Real Examples)17 Oct

Carrie

Carrie, aged 66 has always been extremely active, worked on a farm and also worked nights at the local hospital for over 30 years. But osteoarthritis caused severe pain in her hips so much so that it is hard for her to work, take care of her vegetable garden, or go for walks with her grandkids and continue with her usual activities of daily life. She has decided to go in for hip replacement surgery, which will hopefully reduce her pain.

‘I don’t remember when I had a good night’s sleep,’ says Gardner who is 54. He suffers from arthritis which has affected his hips. He is inconstant pain, his hip hurts while sitting or lying down. He has spoken to his doctor regarding hip replacement surgery, but wants to put it off as long as possible.

He is well aware of the fact that an artificial hip will last for 10 to 20 years and then he will have to have more surgery to have it replaced again. He has decided to have some more medications and pain killers and stop playing golf which aggravates his arthritis. He is going to have NSAID (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications).
