Vishal Mirpuri is in the family business of custom tailoring in Hong Kong for the past 40 years. In 2007, he founded V.M. Clothiers to expand his business and make it more affordable. From Hong Kong he travels to Washington DC and New York to offer his services to a select clientele. These cities have large numbers of clients who prefer to get custom made suits rather than buy them off the rack.
All clothes are made to measure. In fact many clothes can be ordered from their website, but for custom suits, Mirpuri prefers a more hands-on approach. He goes to client’s homes, shows them fabric swatches, finds out their exact requirements and takes their measurements.
For a cutom made suit as many as 27 measurements are taken to ensure a good cut and fit. The suits (and other garments) are eventually made in Hong Kong and sent to the clients.
