How to Become a Journalist (Real Examples)

September 19, 2009

More than 10 years ago, Julia Buckley started her career in journalism from the local BBC radio station at Stoke-on-Trent in Staffordshire. The she moved to London and worked on various web sites including BBC Online for a few years before turning to freelancing full time.

Currently she produces online content, and writes for magazines and also does some work on television. She is a fitness enthusiast and her forays have led her into marathons, half-marathons, gymming, yoga and spinning. This means she has the requisite qualifications to write more easily on these subjects.

‘I’m a keen hiker and regular contributor to Walk, the UK’s highest circulation walking magazine, published by the Ramblers Association,’ she says. Apart from that she writes for women’s magazines on relationships, health and fitness, or lifestyle and home interiors, travel, and storytelling, along with news reports and online content aimed at young people. She is also working on her first novel.
