Sailing around the world seems like a beautiful dream. However, for some people, sailing has become a second life, and they enjoy each second spent of the blue ocean. Laura Mestre de Legoretta joined a women’s sailing team 15 years ago just because there was an unused boat in her family. Laura was in a group with absolutely no sailing experience; they didn’t even know the boat parts and parts names.

The group was initially trained by Pepe Gonzales, then by another water sports enthusiast – Carla Moreno. With every day, the group gathered more sailing experience. Today the group formed by 15 women, including Laura Mestre de Legoretta, forms the only all-female sailing team in Mexico. The group usually competes in a class called One design. In this section, all boats are the same, so the sailing skills and experience are the two things that make the difference between winners and losers.
