How to Build Lasting Friendships in High School (Real Examples)24 Jan

Example 1

Salina

Meeting new friends is a memorable experience, especially if you are young.  Salina, Co-President of the Greater Princeton Student Chapter from New Jersey, USA, had the opportunity to build lasting relationships teens from all around the globe while attending an education conference.  President George Bush initiated the Friendship through Education program in 2001 and it facilitates links between US students and students from other countries with Muslim populations.  Salina was deeply impressed by the variety of viewpoints presented during the conference.  She met many students from other countries.  After discussing about their culture, their opinions regarding the surrounding world or about their life back home, Salina understood that although they came from different places, they have many common beliefs.  Programs like the FTE (Friendship through Education) can cross over virtual and physical barriers.  They represent a unique opportunity to make new friends and to learn more about the world, and Salina is very happy she had a chance to be part of this event.
