How to Look After an Elderly Relative (Real Examples)06 Feb

Example 1

Caroline Bielanska

There are many elements associated with looking after an elderly relative and many people do not consider them all. One of the most neglected is the financial affairs of a relative who needs physical or mental help, as an article by Liz Phillips on The Daily Mail website proves. The article tells the story of Caroline Bielanska and her husband, who tried to deal with the latter’s mother’s affairs when she could not do it herself.

Caroline says that it took more than six weeks to sort out the financial affairs because the bank took that long to accept the enduring power of attorney instruction that was set up. It took even longer for the necessary cards and cheque books to arrive so that they could sort out her care home financing. As a result, Caroline says that being prepared and being persistent is an absolute must because the banks will continue to drag their heels if you do not keep on at them.
