Your Cat and Origin
Maine Coon cats belong in the natural cats breed and are easy to identify because their muscular bodies provide them with a massive appearance. These cats were the first American breed of cats resulting from semi-wild house cats, hence their large size.
Height and Weight
Members of the Maine Coon bred average about 10-16 inches height, but including their tail, they can be as large as 40 inches. Males weigh between 9 and 22 pound and females 7 to 14 pounds. In 2006 the Guinness World Records registered the longest Main Coon cat measuring 48 inches.
Colors and Coat
These cats have large oval blue eyes and rectangular bodies covered by a bushy coat with different colors. A remarkable feature found on this cat is its plumed-like tail. Maine Coon cats can be lilac, chocolate, Siamese pointed bi-color or a mix of different colors and coat patterns.
