Ashley was diagnosed with scoliosis (a condition that curves the spine) when she was only four years old. Her pediatrician recommended her the Miami Children’s Hospital. Every parent wants the best possible treatment for his child, especially when it comes to operating the spine. Therefore, they started to look for the best surgeon to correct the condition. They went to Texas, Washington and other major facilities renowned for corrective surgery for scoliosis, but they were sent back to Miami. Meanwhile, Ashley’s scoliosis was aggravating, reaching a worrying 60 degrees curve. Fortunately, they found out help was just around the corner, at Miami Children’s Hospital. Both William and Betsy were very worried about the surgery, because they feared some spinal nerve would be damaged. The surgery lasted for about 4 hours and it was a success. Today, Ashley is a healthy teen and her scoliosis remained like a bad dream thanks to the Miami Children’s Hospital.
