How to find an alternative to minoxidil
Minoxidil is undisputedly the best hair growth stimulant for people with hair loss and even substantial balding, unfortunately, some people experience a great deal of discomfort in the way of inflammation of the scalp and itchy scalp, and some even on the face.
Before you consider finding an alternative to minoxidil you should consider finding a treatment that will help with the inflammation and itchy skin. Because, undoubtedly, minoxidil is the best treatment for hair loss and should be treated the same. It is important therefore to find a treatment that is equally as good as minoxidil because one should not compromise on the quality of the treatment itself. Luckily there are some alternatives to minoxidil; however, these alternatives are not necessarily as good as minoxidil and nor do they claim to.
Xandrox
Xandrox is a concoction devised by Dr. Lee, a doctor specialising in hair loss. The main ingredient in xandrox is minoxidil but with an important difference. It also contains azelaic acid. According to Dr. Lee, azelaic acid has properties that helps to combat the formation of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) on the scalp which, when binding to hair follicles, results in hair miniaturization thus resulting in hair loss and balding. Another ingredient found in xandrox is betamethasone; this supposedly helps with inflammation of the scalp. What Dr. Lee is proposing here is, get the benefits of minoxidil but also have anti DHT properties as well as a solution to the inflammation of the skin that minoxidil can cause.
Xandrox can be accessed at Dr. Lee's. His site is at. Remember, if you are from the US, you will need a prescription to buy Xandrox. You may get a prescription from your physician and then send it to Dr. Lee at the time of placing your order.
Tricomin
- Another alternative is Tricomin. Tricomin is billed as a treatment to help soothe the scalp, a bit like an anti-inflammatory and provide the scalp with the right environment that will help the scalp to provide regrowth. It has also been known to stimulate hair growth, although the effects are much weaker than minoxidil.
Nizoral
- Another alternative may be Nizoral. Although it contains ketaconazole, is an anti-dandruff treatment but has been mild anti-androgen, which supposedly helps to stop hair loss. SA recent study also suggests Nizoral might have some hair growth properties. It has been compared to regular strength minoxidil (2% strength). However, anyone serious in growing their hair will not find nizoral a truly viable alternative to minoxidil. However, anyone with hair loss that is looking to grow new hair should not use nizoral on its own. It is not potent enough. It should rather be a product to complement more potent hair growth treatments.
Minoxidil is currently the best hair growth stimulant in the market, so you should try to find something that will help with the inflammation rather than looking for an alternative to minoxidil; you should only seek a an alternative treatment if the inflammation is particular bad or is not solved using an anti-inflammation treatment.
