Causes of gynecomastia

- Side effects of some medication
In most cases the root cause geynecomastia is hormonal imbalance. Don't think that hormonal imbalance is the only reason for gynecomastia; there are so many other reasons as well like obesity, liver failure etc. In majority of the cases gynecomastia is just a build up of adipose tissue. In some cases you can feel developed glandular tissue also.
Gynecomastia symptoms
- Constant pain in the breast are (either or both)
- Feminine looking breast
Gynecomastia is not difficult to diagnose. You will see enlarged breast in males. Enlarged breast is abnormality in a male. Besides it gives feminine look to the person, does it not?
Varying degree of gynecomastia
Depending on the size, gynecomastia is defined as palpable if the enlargement is small and as visible if the enlargement is more. There are different types of gynecomastia. Based on the types the gynecomastia symptoms also differ.
If you have gynecomastia at the time of puberty, gynecomastia symptoms will have some specific characters. You can feel disk like glandular tissue enlargement just beneath the areola. The enlarged area cannot be less than one centimeter in diameter and cannot be more then five centimeter in diameter.
Confusing gynecomastia with fat
Fortunately, in most cases the evidence of too much fat in the breast area will be the result of excess fat rather than gynecomastia. By controlling changing your diet and through exercise, the excess fatty tissue developed in that area will gradually diminish along with fat all over your body.
Hormonal imbalance
You can also notice gynecomastia symptoms in adults. In case of adults the appearance of gynecomastia symptoms may be due to hormonal imbalance, obesity, liver failure, use of drug containing estrogen etc. of course there won't be any pain unless there is a complication like cancer. But the enlarged area will be tender to touch.
Now you have to know that there is a condition called pseudogynecomastia. Here there will be accumulation of fatty tissue, where as in true gynecomastia there will be enlargement of glandular tissue. You should know to differentiate between fatty tissue and glandular tissue. Glandular tissue will be rubbery and will have concentric circles. The glandular tissue will be moving freely.
Once you know all the above-mentioned information you can easily tell whether you have gynecomastia or not. Go and see your doctor to confirm the possibilty of the presence of gynecomastia in your case and the possible treatment options.
