The decision to leave a job to start a business is not one that can be taken lightly. In an ideal world, we would love to have a job while the business establishes itself. However, by carrying on with a job might mean the business is lacking enough attention and dedication to thrive. It might mean that you need to consider giving up your job and dedicate yourself to the business in a more comprehensive way.

• You are absolutely sure with yourself that this is what you want to do with your life. Many people are characterised as being vary driven and passionate about a particular cause. If the need to fulfil a goal of having a business of your own is a hugely motivating factor, then it is surely a time to consider dedicating full-time to the business. If by any chance, the business fails, you will have an opportunity to get back to a career. However, a business tends to require greater devoting because you will be overseeing the development aspects of the business.

• You already have the financing for the business that you seek to go into. If you do not have the financing, you should not quit your job.

Having enough money set aside

One important decision an entrepreneur will need to take when leaving his his/her job to oversee the development of a business is to ensure you have set aside enough money to live by. You will need to have enough to pay for the usual expenditures such as food, bills, and other amenities. This is very important because there is no guarantee a business will start to bring in revenues immediately. Of course, it is extremely satisfying when you reach a level where the business has grown enough to provide such expenditures.
