How to do a job interview When appearing for a job interview its not only important to be qualified for the job opening but its also very crucial that the way you present yourself is impressive and convincing and appropraite for the job interview. Here below are a few steps that should be kept in mind while facing a job interview: Know yourself This might seem a odd thing to say, but too often people hesitate during a job interview when asked questions regarding their educational and employment background. Make a point of knowing what skills and attributes you have and gained from previous experience that you will be able to contribute to this. This is especially important as it must have been one of the factors considered when they short listed you for the role.A resume gives an overview of the person who is to be interviewed. It should only contain information, which will be relevant to the company like personal information, work experience and eductaional qualifications. Research the organization Before attending the interview, make sure you research the comany as thoroughly as possible. This will allow to field any questions they throw at you without hesitation. It will also demonstrate to them that you are very keen and able. You will also be able to ask questions about the organization in a more informed way. It will also allow to be involved in more conversational type interview rather than simply a question and answer type, which would only give the indication that you are simply just another candidate rather an outstanding one. Rudimentary Be well dressed. You should be dressed according to the kind of job you are applying for. Neat and clean is the key word here. For a corporate job, the usual dress code is appropriate. You should go in wearing a suite with a shirt and tie. You should make an exception only when specified. Some organizations may require a less formal dress code. However, nothing is specified, you should go in weraing a suite. Be well equipped and handle with care: one should carry extra copies of documents that may be required by the interviewer. Be easy going and be responsive.
In case you have made a mistake during the interview don't panic, do not hesitate and make the situation worse. Try and be subtle and side track the issue to lessen the impact of the mistake. This will also give the impression that you are quick footed and able to think quickly. Be prepared for common questions like why you left your previous job. What is your weakness? Where do you see yourself in the next x years etc. Follow Up Usually there is no need to follow up by calling or emailing them. Employers do not like this. Wait for them to get in touch. However, if you have not heard anything within a reasonable period of time then you may ask politely by phone if they can update you on the situation.
