| How to save on your phone bill
Saving on phone bills is now a lot easier to achieve than was the case even only a few years ago. With competition in the telephone market so fierce, phone providers are constantly reducing phone bills to win customers. However, there are still many ways to save money even further.
Below are some tips on ways to reducing phone bills and keeping them low as possible.
Bundled offers
Many firms are now offering bundled (telephone, digital, cable TV and broadband) services. These packages usually result in a lot cheaper bills than when the phone line is take individually.
- If you make a lot of phone calls then go with a flat monthly rate offer. These usually offer free local and national calls on weekdays and weekends.
- If you do not make many calls, it would probably work out cheaper if you by the call.
- Take up multi-service offers e.g. telephone, broadband, TV. A bundled package tends to be a lot cheaper then when all the services are taken individually.
- Constantly check prices. There are numerous sites that monitor latest prices for phone, broadband and digital TV offers. You can also go to sites of these service providers and find the prices there.
- Try and avoid getting into a contract with your phone provider for longer then 3 months. Since prices change quite rapidly, tying yourself to a very long contract would mean restricting yourself from taking advantage of changes in prices.
- When a phone provider reduces phone bills and offers a new and better plan, do not hesitate to change your existing provider if they are more expensive.
- Read the small prints very carefully for hidden charges.
- Try and find a supplier that is proactive in reducing costs. Also reactive to lowering costs when other firms lead the way.
Designated numbers
- Some phone companies offer friends and family numbers or similar schemes – cheaper billing to designated numbers. These allow you to make further savings on the selected numbers. Not all companies offer this.
Internet telephony
- Much lower international calls
Using email and instant messaging
This is a great alternative way of talking with friends and family members. Of course its free of charge, the only payment is the price of your monthly broadband charge, which an ever increasing number of people have anyway.
