How to remove pubic hair

Pubic hair has had an evolutionary purpose. Researches believe that pubic hair's purpose is to capture pheromones, erotic scents that can be detected unconsciously and that encourage sexual intercourse. Pubic hair has also had another evolutionary purpose: to protect the genital area and to keep genitalia warm.

However, pubic hair seems to be purposeless and unwanted by men and women today. Female pubic hair removal, as well as male pubic hair removal, is growing industries. The absence of pubic hair is considered in today's society desirable and that is why both men and women spend a lot of time and money on pubic hair removal products and methods.

Wide range of removal techniques

There is a wide variety of pubic hair removal techniques and products, some of which are permanent, while others are only temporary. There are three types of permanent pubic hair removal techniques:

  • Permanent removal
  • Permanent reduction
  • Lasting hair inhibition.

Permanent hair removal

Electrolysis – is a permanent pubic hair removal technique. Electrolysis is technique that requires a technician to insert a needle that conducts electric current in the hair follicle and to destroy the blood vessel that aliments the hair.

This pubic hair removal technique produces a sensation very similar to a static electricity shock, which is supportable and not very painful. Unfortunately, electrolysis is very time consuming and very expensive. The pubic hair has to be removed one by one, which can be very annoying and frustrating.

Intense pulse light (epilight) - is a public hair reduction technique. This method does not permanently stop pubic hair from growing, but it is very successful in reducing the amount of visible pubic hair.

Laser treatment for pubic hair removal is less painful than other procedures such as electrolysis, but it does not work as well for anyone. If the contrast between the skin color and the color of your hair is much reduced, then you will need a lot more sessions to get rid of your unwanted pubic hair. Lasting pubic hair inhibitors are drugs that have to be taken continuously in order to give maximum results.

Other techniques

Most people that want to remove pubic hair resort to temporary methods such as waxing, shaving, trimming or using a pubic hair removal cream. Some of these methods are more painful than others, but they have better results.

For instance, waxing or using an electrical epilating product can be relatively painful, but the pubic hair does not grow back for at least two weeks. Shaving or using a pubic hair removal cream can be extremely easy and fast, but the pubic hair begins to grow back in less than three days.

Despite the fact that female pubic hair removal has been accepted and even welcomed for a long time, male pubic hair removal has been seen as a sign of effeminate men until a few years ago.

Today, male pubic hair removal is becoming more than a hygiene measure and it is developing into a trend embraced by more and more men. The most common male pubic hair removal procedures are shaving and waxing.
