Wedding gown : Lets start with the wedding gown. Of course, when a wedding dress is mentioned, inevitable our minds turn to the gown worn by the bride. Here is one area where you could make substantial savings without anyone really noticing. The temptation would be to spend big money on a designer dress which can be unnecessary as no one really takes much notice of what you are actually wearing but rather how you look in it. You can look just as gorgeous in a dress that a lot cheaper than a luxurious branded one.

Guest list : This is an area where you can make significant savings. Of course, you will not want to avoid inviting any of your relatives and close friends. However, do you really need to invite friends that you do not really keep in touch with and friends of friends?

Another area where you can save substantial amounts of money is when hiring photo, video and audio equipment. There is no need to hire equipment in the highest price range because there are very good alternatives at a much lower price. However, do not skimp totally on these types of equipment, after all you will want the photos and videos of your big day to be of high quality.

Flowers : This is another area where substantial savings can be made. It is very tempting to go overboard with all the decorations, but shop around for a florist who provides discounts for big events such as a wedding.

The date of the weeding : Is a very important determinant in cost of a wedding because cost can depend significantly on when the wedding takes place. For example, if the wedding take place during the summer when its normally a busy wedding season, the cost will obviously be higher at this time. Also, the day of the week can also have a significant bearing on the cost. A weekday and Saturday weddings are generally more expensive to book for obvious reasons.
