How to choose a stockbroker

Trading in stocks can be done on individual calculations as well as according to own knowledge. But in case you feel the need for assistance with respect to advice and tips it's always better to go for a stock broker.

Here are a few steps to select a stockbroker to deal with:

  • Decide upon your investment plans and patterns. some brokers specialize in investment whereas other are good with daily trading

  • Search for the various stock brokers in close vicinity to you

  • Contact the randomly chosen ones and visit their offices

  • Ask for the discounts they offer on their brokerage fees and benefits provided

  • Discuss the kind of services a broker provides apart from a normal sale and purchase platform.

  • It's always better to deal with people with a good record so look for referrals from your friends, relatives etc.

  • It's better to deal with a single person rather than working with 4 different brokers so it's advised to look for a broker who provides services in dealings of not only stocks but mutual funds, bonds and other investment options too.

  • Ask a broker for the clients he has been working with sharing the same kind of requirement as you have and try and ask about the client's opinion about the broker and his services.

  • Once all this information is collected compare the options with respect to cost, service quality and promptness and select the best that suits all your requirements as an investor.
